The club’s Stealthwoman Laura McFarlane removes her rubber suit to report on Saturday’s club road ride
The constant banter and chat throughout the day made the wet and windy weather conditions very tolerable during today’s road ride.
A group of 8 riders set off from Kilmaurs down through Knockentiber, Crosshouse and into Gatehead before taking the road to Symington. Catherine Logan and Harvie Millar set the pace up the hill, keeping the group together right to the top when singlespeeder Martin Kuhn sprinted to claim the first 30mph sign. After re-grouping in Symington, they made their way down Kerrix Road and over to Troon where they made a welcome stop at the Velvet Apple for coffee and scones. (Sorry,Langholm Farm, but we’ll be back, don’t worry.)
Suitably refreshed and warmed up, the group then headed along the Troon coast towards Marine Drive and into Drybridge, where Harvie Millar claimed the next 30mph sign sprint. From here the group headed over to Cunninghamhead and back to Kilmaurs to complete 31 miles shop to shop.
