Walkers club member Fiona Walker made the long trip to Newport in south Wales for the British Masters Track Cycling Championships at the weekend, writes Alan Woodison.
Taking part were hundreds of riders aged from 30 to 80 from all over the UK.
Fiona, from Stewarton, was competing in the 40-44 age group in five events. She rode well to finish 5th in the 8km scratch race, 10km points race and 500m TT. She also finished 4th in the 2km pursuit. But her best result of the championships was in the sprint where she beat fellow Scot, Carole Dick from Stirling, to take the bronze medal.
Her focus now turns to training for the World Masters Championships which takes place in Manchester in October.
