Mountain biking enthusiasts Ian Mcalindon and Alan Murray teamed up with roadie Sandy Muir to tackle a long distance coast-to-coast ride at the weekend.
The trio, members of Walkers Cycling Club, covered 115 miles on their eight-hour road trip from east to west.
Ian, from Largs, and Alan, from Kilmarnock, joined Sandy at his home town station in Stewarton early on Saturday morning for the train journey to Dunbar.
The century-plus ride on cycle tracks and quiet roads was a new experience for the mountain bikers who benefited from being in a small supportive group.
Cold weather and a strong headwind made the going even tougher but they finally made it to Largs within their target time just as darkness was falling.
First stop was at a seaside pub to celebrate their achievement – and a hard day’s cycling – with a well-earned pint or two!
