Walkers CC held a mountain biking skills session at Irvine on Sunday.
A dozen riders put their off-road abilities to the test on the cyclocross circuit at the Beach Park with guidance from club member Fiona Walker, a Scottish Cycling qualified coach.
And several of the riders came away feeling very pleased with themselves after successfully negotiating BOTH sides of the famous Big Dipper as well as the off-camber sections of the route.
Said member Rebecca Joy, “A big thanks to Fiona – I am more confident on my mtb again today and with encouragement from her and from the cyclocross crew cheering me on to pedal to the top, I managed the BIG DIPPER, twice! 😂 Happy Club Member!
Meanwhile, the club’s Scott Russell was on a solo mission to a day of cyclocross racing at sunny Stirling. Scott flew the colours for Walkers CC in the 50+ event on a new course near at Plean Country Park, finishing 28th in 38.57 (five laps).
