We’ll tak the Hoy road

East Ayrshire’s motorbike-mad provost Jim Todd saddled up for a very different kind of cycling session on Sunday night at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow, writes Alan Woodison.

Jim was a guest of Walkers Cycling Club who had booked the national arena to test their skills on the track. The Provost had kindly offered to take part after presenting the awards a few months ago at the club’s criterium race meeting in Howard Park, Kilmarnock.

Thirty Walkers riders were put through their paces by coach Fiona Walker of Scottish Cycling and Walkers club member.

. The velo session was as much a club social  get-together before Christmas as a competitive event. The night ended with a flying lap, won by Calum Ridout and Rebecca Murdoch.
