Fighting like cats and dogs with a twist in the tail.

Glasgow Riderz hosted their annual “Nether Mind The PolloCX”  Women’s only Cyclocross race last Sunday.

This now very popular event is in its fourth year and takes the form of an hour’s coaching and then a 35 minute “fun” race.

However, two club members – Fiona Walker and Rebecca Murdoch – took to the start line with something of a score to settle.

The pair competed in 2016 for the first time with Fiona taking the win over Rebecca. This year Rebecca,  armed with a new set of skills and equipment, was out to prove a point and even up the scores.

For the most part of the race, this looked as if it was going to happen, and it seemed as if dog-loving Rebecca was heading for the win over feline fancying Fiona. But there was to be a twist in this particular tale.

Having held  Fiona off for the majority of the race, Rebecca suffered the dreaded mechanical. Fiona used this opportunity to cat-ch up and passed Rebecca on the home straight.

Not one to give up Rebecca, doggedly,  gave it one last push for home crossing the line less than a fur ball’s width in front of Fiona.

The two will now join forces to provide a strong pairing for the upcoming FWCC  2-Up Ice Breaker TT in February.
