Walkers Cycling Club has been keeping their MTB roadshow on track over the past couple of Wednesdays, including a visit to the appropriately named Windyhill above Lochwinnoch.
The most recent outing was a visit to the trails in and around Stewarton. Pathfinder general John Walker guided a group of ten in Lainshaw Woods and on familiar territory at the back of Stewarton Academy.
This week the club will be heading to Neilston Pad near Harelaw Dam for more of the same. In the past few months the MTB section have sourced suitable terrain in Irvine, Dundonald, Hurlford and Galston in their off-road tour of Ayrshire.
Riders are also making regular use of Craufurdland Fishery which was once adopted as the club’s mountain biking home base.
Three TT enthusiasts from Walkers took part in the Summer Sizzler TT at Eglinton on Saturday.
The trio faced a gruelling wind which seemed, at times, to be coming face on in both outwards and return legs.
Simon Porter (23:06) again proved his training is paying off by setting a PB in the trickiest of conditions. Clubmates Frazer Bell (24:11) and Davie Robb (25:34) weren’t far behind.
